LONG BEACH, Calif. (August 27, 2015) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing and lifecycle cost management announced that two premiere clients finished in the top-10 US Fleets for their efficiency practices by applying technology at the Fleet Technology Expo.  The Heavy Duty Fleet Efficiency Award (formerly Green Fleet Award), was presented to Toyota Logistics Services who placed third and Maines Paper & Food Service, Inc. who placed in the top ten. Finalists were chosen from among hundreds of nominations based on their commitment to fleet efficiency and professionalism.

Early in 2014, Toyota, led by Kirk Welch - Safety/Compliance Manager, worked closely with Fleet Advantage to replace its entire fleet of car haulers with clean diesel equipment. Fleet Advantage performed a comprehensive fleet analysis to demonstrate the savings that the new technology’s effect would have on their fleet.  Toyota opted for a three to five year vehicle lifecycle over its former seven year lifecycle and is now poised to benefit from continual fuel economy improvements.

With each truck driving an estimated 120,000 miles per year, the impact of Toyota’s emissions reduction was immediately realized. The new clean- diesel engines continually reduce CO2 emissions and in tandem improve fuel efficiency saving, approximately 22 pounds of CO2 emissions per gallon.

“Corporate Social Responsibility is extremely important to Toyota and is in accordance with Toyota’s Earth Charter Policy to promote environmental initiatives while seeking partners to reduce our carbon footprint,” said Kirk Welch. “Fleet Advantage helped Toyota to leverage data analytics, variance analysis and new technology to reduce our emissions and improve fuel economy.”

Maine's Paper & Food Service, Inc. embraced the philosophy of lifecycle cost management and began their fleet modernization program in 2011.  Maines has set the example and standard for the industry by incorporating technologies to conserve fuel and reduce their CO2 emissions and have since updated their entire fleet to clean diesel equipment.

The Fleet Technology Expo Awards is a new awards program that recognizes fleets for their sustainability and efficiency efforts. The Fleet Technology Expo offers educational sessions that address the adoption of alternative fuels, fleet analytics and emerging technologies to maximize fleet operational efficiency. Fran Flynn, Fleet Advantage’s Vice President of Sustainability, served as moderator at the “Technology in Trucking and Growing Profits” session.
